Signs Along The Rivergreenway - You Wonít See

At the end of Pemberton Drive near the Maumee River, you can go up the ramp to the bikepath and start toward New Haven and thatís where youíll see it on the left.  Itís a memorable sign. You will not see many signs on the greenway, but the Fort Wayne Parks Dept. apparently thought this one was worth spending money to post. So, Iíve decided to present some of my own sign ideas for your consideration. Everyone has a different viewpoint about everything, so I wonít expect the parks dept. to take me up on my unsolicited suggestions, but it would be nice if they did.

Sign suggestion #1
Wisdom begins in wonder. - Socrates -

Suggestion #2

Goethe - "Always hold fast to the present. Every situation, indeed every moment, is of infinite value, for it is the representative of the whole eternity."

Suggestion # 3

Aristotle said, "We are what we repeatedly do.. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."

Suggestion #4

Seneca - "Begin at once to live, and count each separate day as a separate life."

Okay, so those are my ideas.

Now, imagine youíre a visitor to Fort Wayne. Imagine you came to walk or bike on the Rivergreenway and saw signs along the way. What might you be more impressed by, one of my suggestions above, or the beautiful, uplifting bit of fanciful poetry that inspired this page.

The sign below is The Reality.
